The Counterfeit Line – Part 2
As discussed in part 1, we need to understand that there are only two categories of Bible versions which come from one of two lines. The pure line we discussed in part 1 and the counterfeit line we will discuss now.
The counterfeit line, has Corrupted the word of God, by many Deletions, incorrect Additions, all by Dishonest men, and therefore have Changed the word of God into a Deceptive Fraud.
In review we need to remember that God preserved and protected His pure Word from the letters in Acts 15 from God’s men, where Apostles and Prophets were writing back and forth in the Greek manuscript, and those manuscripts were translated into the old Latin Vulgate in 157 AD. Those that were persecuted during the dark ages, the Waldenses, the Albigenses, the Gauls and the Celts; they had their Bibles based on the old Latin Vulgate. Then in the 1500’s Erasmus translated the Latin back into the Greek and that’s known today as the Textus Receptus or the Received text. Then we saw the history of the Bible from that point on, Martin Luther, William Tyndale, Myles Coverdale, the Great Bible, the Bishop’s Bible and then the King James Bible. And God had men do an exhaustive work to make the King James Bible the pure word of truth, that God’s people of the last days could stand on and trust.
Satan can present a counterfeit so closely resembling the truth that it deceives those who are willing to be deceived, who desire to shun the self-denial and sacrifice demanded by the truth; …” {GC 528.2}
Here is a very important principle you need to understand. For every truth God gives us, Satan will have one or more Counterfeits closely resembling the truth!
Now let me ask this question, since Satan produces a counterfeit to everything holy, doesn’t it make sense that he would counterfeit the Word of God? If it is God’s Word that does the sanctifying, if it is God’s Word that we are to test all things by, doesn’t it make sense that he would counterfeit the pure word with something close but riddled with error to trip up searchers for truth? So let’s examine the history of the counterfeiters on Satan’s team.
Galatians 1:6-8 reveals to us that back in Paul’s day there were issues with counterfeit gospels coming into the church. “I marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel: Which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ. But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed.” If we don’t want to be accursed, we better make sure that we are following the pure word of God. Amen?
2 Corinthians 2:17, “For we are not as many, which corrupt the word of God: but as of sincerity, but as of God, in the sight of God speak we in Christ.” So in Galatians Paul said there was a counterfeit gospel and here to the church at Corinth he says there are those who are corrupting God’s Word.
So who were the people corrupting God’s Word in Paul’s day?
They were called the Gnostics. The word Gnostic comes from the Greek word Gnosis (γνώσις) in ancient and modern Greek is the common feminine noun for "knowledge.” The writings of the Gnostics deny the Deity of Jesus. They believed that Judas knew the secret plan of Jesus and that Jesus relied on him. They also believed that the serpent in the Garden of Eden was not the enemy, but the vehicle God used to enlighten mankind. Their eyes would be opened. By the way, the Book of Judas was discovered to have been written by the Gnostics in the year 280 AD. Gnosticism and Paganism do go hand in hand.
Origen Adamantius, 185–254 AD, was an early Christian Alexandrian scholar and theologian, once said, “The scriptures are of little use to them that understand them as they are written.” He based everything in scripture philosophically and allegorically. They claimed Genesis and creation week did not happen, that it was an allegory for us to learn from.
This is from “Gipp's Understandable History of the Bible” pages 80, 81. “It was Origen, deceived by … educational philosophy, who upon receipt of the pure copies of scripture, altered them to parallel his twisted thinking.” So here Origen took the pure Greek manuscripts and the old Latin Vulgate and said that this doesn’t match my thinking and decided to redo it. Going on with the quote, “Origen is the spiritual father of all Bible critics, and is not only responsible for the physical manuscripts, which delete such verses as Luke 24:40; Acts 8:37; 1 John 5:7, but he is also responsible for the Alexandrian mentality.”
So here Origen is seeing things in the Bible regarding the Deity of Christ and he has to take it out. That’s 1 John 5:7, “For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one.” So many of the modern versions have it in partial or not at all. The quote goes on to say, “This is the ideology that gave birth to the corrupt Alexandrian manuscripts in the first place.” The Alexandrian mentality can be stated in one sentence, the Bible is not perfect and can be improved on. It is the works of Origen that gave rise to what is known as the Alexandrian Text or Local Text of the New Testament.” The devil was working through these men to corrupt the pure word of God.
Origen not only worked on the New Testament, he also worked on the Old Testament. It was around 230 AD that Origen completed a document called the Hexapla. So Origen had put together an Old Testament and New Testament with his corrupt thinking, producing the counterfeit to the pure scriptures. For every truth God gives us, Satan will have one or more Counterfeits closely resembling the truth.
In “Gipp's Understandable History of the Bible” page 118, “The Roman Catholic Church, desperate to replace the true word of God with one of its own making, had Jerome translate the corrupt Alexandrian text into Latin in 380 AD. Then in a vain attempt at fooling Bible Christians into believing it was the true word of God, they dishonestly named it the Vulgate.”
Closer to our time were two men named Brooke Foss Westcott (Bishop of Durham), (January 12, 1825 - July 27, 1901), and Fenton John Anthony Hort, (April 23, 1828 - November 30, 1892), two late-19th century English theologians. Hort believed in Darwinism and wrote that it is indefensible. He did not believe in Creation. Wescott believed in Maryology. Both men were spiritualists as well as Romanists. They did not believe that the second coming of Jesus would be literal, rather spiritual. They also believed that heaven is a state of mind, not a literal place. Do these two men sound like men who could be trusted in translating a Bible?
Lobegott Friedrich Constantin (von) Tischendorf (January 18, 1815 – December 7, 1874) was a noted German Biblical scholar. Tischendorf is perhaps best known for his discovery of the Codex Sinaiticus (one of the oldest extant copies of the New Testament in Greek, circa 360 A.D.) in a trash can in St. Catherine’s Monastery at the foot of Mount Sinai in 1844. Tischendorf had been sent to search for manuscripts by Russia's Tsar Alexander II.
It was the purpose of Wescott and Hort to supply a portable Greek text for clergymen, that, in their words, “Would not be disfigured with the Byzantine corruptions.” The Byzantine text was from the pure word of God. It was one of the names for the old Latin Vulgate. They went ahead and produced their corrupted work.
This is from “Our Authorized Bible Vindicated,” page 172, “It was of necessity that Wescott and Hort should take this position. Their own Greek New Testament upon which they have been working on twenty years, was founded on Codex B (that would be the Vaticinus manuscript that was "found" in 1481 in the Vatican library in Rome) and the Codex Sinaiticus (found in 1844). They based their Greek text on the corrupt Alexandrian text, Origen made his Greek text. One of Origen’s followers was a man named Eusebius of Caesarea (c. AD 263 – 339) also called Eusebius Pamphili, was a Roman historian. He was the man that baptized Emperor Constantine in 331 AD. And it was Constantine who directed Eusebius to make us an ecumenical Bible, one that will bring Pagans and Christians together. (Sound familiar? Kind of a 4th century ecumenical movement). Eusebius made 50 copies of his text which was rejected by the Christians as heretical. So these 50 copies were stored away in various libraries around the Roman Empire and they were forgotten about. One of them was discovered in 1481, and that is the Vaticinus or Codex B. Another one was the one that was found in St. Catherine’s Monastery in 1844; that is the Codex Sinaiticus. They are all based on the corrupt Alexandrian text that follows the teachings of Origen and Eusebius, and that is the basis of Wescott and Hort’s Greek translation.”
So here we see the counterfeit line alongside the pure Word of God. The pure Greek manuscript, those letters we were told of in Acts chapter 15, were counterfeited by the Alexandrian text put out by Origen, then the Old Latin Vulgate being counterfeited by Jerome’s Latin Vulgate in 380 AD put forth by the Roman Catholic Church, then you have the Old Latin Vulgate translated back to the Greek by Erasmus in 1516 and that is counterfeited by Wescott and Hort. Then Wescott and Hort translated their counterfeit Greek into English interjecting many of their own beliefs and ingenuities into the text, margins and footnotes. Remember, their own beliefs were Gnosticism, Maryology, Spiritualism. They needed to disclaim the Deity of Jesus Christ by altering texts referring to Jesus as God.

He will give messages of truth mingling with the truth ideas of his own, prepared to mislead souls, to draw the mind to human beings and their sayings, and prevent it from holding firmly to a "Thus saith the Lord." --Letter 102, 1894. {2SM 22.1}
Wescott and Hort’s Bible was called the English Revised Version also known as the RV Bible. The New Testament of the English Revised Version was published in 1881 and the Old and New Testament in 1885. Wescott and Hort were asked by the Church of England to replace the Bible they were using. They were instructed not to change the Received Text, only the things of necessity need to be changed to update the language. Wescott and Hort did make many changes subtly, adding footnotes, making deletions here and there. It was only after the committee overseeing the project had disbanded, did they realize that they had given their sanction to this new Greek text, this Revised Version over the Textus Receptus and they were devastated by it. (My note – The New Testament of the English Revised Version was published in 1881 and the Old and New Testament in 1885.) This English Revised Version of the 1880’s became the official Bible of the Church of England and was a counterfeit, replacing the King James Bible.
The preface of the English Revised Version of 1881 reads, The English Version of the New Testament here presented to the reader is a Revision of the Translation published in the year of Our Lord 1611, and commonly known by the name of the Authorised Version. (My note – What they are trying to say is that it is an improvement of the King James Version, but that’s not accurate as it is based on different foundational texts. We know that the English Revised Version was using the Codex Vaticanus and the Codex Sinaiaticus and is going to counterfeit the KJV and the family tree it came from. The pure family tree started in Acts 15 and the letters sent back and forth took us ultimately to the KJV while the corrupted version was based on Gnostic writings that denied the Divinity of Jesus and lifts up philosophy and human wisdom above the word of God. One is there to sanctify the heart, the other is there to corrupt.)
Look what it says approximately halfway into the preface of the English Revised Version of 1885, “…the Hebrew Sheôl, which signifies the abode of departed spirits, and corresponds to the Greek Hades, or the under world, is variously rendered in the Authorised Version by "grave," "pit," and "hell." Of these renderings "hell," if it could be taken in its original sense as used in the Creeds, would be a fairly adequate equivalent for the Hebrew word; but it is so commonly understood of the place of torment that to employ it frequently would lead to inevitable misunderstanding. The Revisers therefore in the historical narratives have left the rendering "the grave" or "the pit" in the text, with the marginal note "Heb. Sheol" to indicate that it does not signify "the place of burial."” (My note – They are stating in the marginal notes, that the correct rendering is not the grave, rather the place of eternal torment. And it is largely in the margins that they are putting there human wisdom and philosophy so as to change the text as little as possible.)
Remember Colossians 2:8 “Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, …”
So here is the counterfeit line. CLICK You have the Alexandrian Text; you have Jerome’s Latin Vulgate of 380 AD; then you have Wescott and Hort’s Greek Manuscript counterfeit; then they led out in the English Revised Version and from the prefaces we already read, we know that the family tree continues with the American Standard Version of 1901 and the New Revised Standard Version released in 1989. History tells us that Satan is behind every one of those counterfeit Bibles.
The American version of the English Revised Version Bible, was published in 1901 and is called the American Standard Bible. From that the New Revised Standard Version was released in 1952. That Bible today is the NASB, the New American Standard Bible, which has its roots through Wescott & Hort, through Sinaiticus Codex, back through Eusebius, back to Origen which goes back to the Alexandrian Gnostic teachings.
Just about every new version today is based on Wescott & Hort’s English Revised Version.
Here is part of the preface of the NASB, the New American Standard Bible, 1985 edition. “In the history of English Bible translations, the King James Version is the most prestigious. (My note – do you notice how all these versions use the King James for comparison. It’s because they want to give the impression it was inadequate and they can produce a counterfeit.) This time-honored version of 1611, became the basis for the English Revised Version (My note – this is a lie) appearing in 1881 (New Testament) and 1885 (Old Testament). The American counterpart of this last work was published in 1901 as the American Standard Version. Recognizing the values of the American Standard Version, the Lockman Foundation (My note – they are the publishers) felt an urgency to preserve these and other lasting values of the ASV (My note – So the publishers are going to preserve it when the Bible says that God would preserve His word. So why does a publisher say that they have an urgency to preserve the word? There answer would be that God is not. Do you follow that? God’s not preserving His pure word in these Bible versions. Continuing.) urgency to preserve these and other lasting values of the ASV by incorporating recent discoveries of Hebrew and Greek textual sources and by rendering it into more current English. Therefore, in 1959 a new translation project was launched, based on the time-honored principles of translation of the ASV and KJV. The result is the New American Standard Bible.”
In the NASB they omit the word Christ 43 times. Why would they do that? Because it’s based on Philosophy. When you trace the family tree back to the Gnostic writings in Paul’s day, they denied the Divinity of Jesus. So all these Gnostic root versions water down or omit the Divinity of Jesus. They take the name God out 31 times and the name Jesus 75 times and the name Lord 35 times. So the NASB has its place in the corrupt family tree.
Now the New King James Version 1985 edition preface says this, “There is only one basic New Testament used by Protestants, Roman Catholics, and Orthodox, by conservatives and liberals. (My note – Is that a true statement? NO WAY! The New Testaments used by the Protestants are not the same as the ones used by the Catholics. It’s a completely different original text. So right there, the owners of the NKJV, Nelson Publications are lying.) Minor variations and hand copies have appeared through the centuries before mechanical printing began about AD 1450. New Testament scholarship holds that the best text is based on the consensus of the majority of existing manuscripts. (My note – What it is talking about is the Majority Text, which is another name for the Byzantine Text, which is another name for the Old Latin Vulgate, which is based on the early Greek letters written in Acts 15.)
Most of these manuscripts are in substantial agreement, even though many are late and none as early as the 5th century. (My note – That’s a lie as the Old Latin Vulgate is the Majority text and dates back to 157 AD. Just as the Catholic Church took the name Latin Vulgate and applied it to their Bible, so the Nelson Publishers has taken the name of the Majority Text which is on the pure side and reapplying it to their text. It’s deception. The NKJV is deception.)
It goes on to say in the preface, “The Majority Text is similar to the Textus Receptus, but it corrects those readings that have little or no support in the Greek manuscript tradition. (My note – So they are saying in this preface, that the Majority Text corrects the Received Text. When you look at history, the Majority Text came out in 157 AD and the Received Text in 1516, how can something earlier correct something that has not been written yet? Nelson is taking it and twisting it and praying on the ignorance of people who have the money to purchase their Bibles) It goes on to say, “In light of these facts, and also because the NKJV is the 5th revision of the historical document translated from specific texts. (My note – They are saying that the NKJV is a revision of the KJV and that’s a lie.
It goes on to say, “It is important to emphasize that 85% of the New Testament of the NKJV is the same as the Textus Receptus, the Alexandrian Text and the Majority Text. (My note – It makes you wonder what is the other 15%. Secondly the Alexandrian Text is the counterfeit to the other two mentioned.)
In the NKJV it omits the name God 51 times, omits the name Lord 66 times, omits heaven 50 times, omits the following words: fornication 23 times, repent 44 times, blood (being the blood atonement) 23 times, hell 22 times, devil 26 times, Jehovah every time which is only 4, soul 137 times, the word Slide 53 damnation is nowhere in the NKJV but is mentioned 11 times in the KJV. New testament entirely 6 times, example new testament of my blood. Just those mentioned omissions are 439 changes and that’s just a fraction of the 15%.

Many people have asked about the mysterious symbol on the NKJV. Symbols are used throughout the occult. Harpers' Encyclopedia of Mystical & Paranormal Experience (p.594) says, "Symbols are important to all esoteric teachings, for they contain secret wisdom accessible only to the initiated."
Thomas Nelson Publishers (publishers of the NKJV) claim, on the inside-cover, the symbol, ". . .is an ancient symbol for the Trinity." But Acts 17:29, clearly FORBIDS such symbology: ". . . we ought NOT to think that the Godhead is like unto gold, or silver, or stone, GRAVEN BY ART and man's device."

And why does The Aquarian Conspiracy, a key New Age "handbook", bear a similar symbol? New Agers freely admit it represents three inter-woven "6"s or "666“? Constance Cumbey, author of The Hidden Dangers of the Rainbow and a notable authority on the New Age Movement, said, "On the cover of the Aquarian Conspiracy is a Mobius, it is really used by them as triple six (666). The emblem on the cover of the New King James Bible is said to be an ancient symbol of the Trinity. The old symbol had gnostic origins. It was more gnostic than Christian. I was rather alarmed when I noticed the emblem..." (The New Age Movement, Southwest Radio Church, 1982 p.11)

But I saw that the Word of God, as a whole, is a perfect chain, one portion linking into and explaining another. True seekers for truth need not err; for not only is the Word of God plain and simple in declaring the way of life, but the Holy Spirit is given as a guide in understanding the way to life therein revealed.” {EW 220.2}
Two lines, one corrupt, one pure. God’s people should be using the King James Version; not the New King James, not the NIV, not the NASB, not the RSV, not the ASV, not the NLT, not the CEB, not the ESV, not the GNT, not the NCV, not the NET, not the CEV, not the DRA, not the AMP. We should only be following God’s line.

KING JAMES VERSION BIBLE FACTS
. A- "Alexandrinus:" written more than 300 years after the completion of the New Testament. It omits Genesis 14:14-17; 15:1-6, 16-19, 16:6-10, Leviticus 6:19-23, 1 Samuel 12:17-14:9, 1 Kings 3-6 and Psalms 69:19-79:10.
Aleph-"Sinaiticus:" written more than 200 years after the completion of the New Testament. It omits Genesis 23:19-24:46, Numbers 5:27-7:20, 1 Chronicles 9:27-19:17, all of Exodus, Joshua, 1 and 2 Samuel, 1 and 2 Kings, Hosea, Amos, Micah, Ezekiel, Daniel and Judges. It contains New Testament Apocrypha.
C- "Codes Ephraemi:" written more than 300 years after the completion of the New Testament. It omits Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, Deuteronomy, Joshua, Judges, 1 and 2 Samuel, 1 and 2 Kings and all of the major and minor prophets!
B- "Vaticanus:" It omits all off Genesis 1:1 - 46:28, all of Psalms 105:26-137:6, and parts of 1 Samuel, I Kings and Nehemiah. It contains the Apocrpha books of the Old Testament.
The Septuagint is an ancient Greek translation of the Old Testament. It is not inspired.
Tradition has it that the Septuagint (known also as the LXX because 70 scribes were involved in its production) was written some 250 years before the Christian era. But this is not the case.
The Apocrypha is a series of books, written between B.C. 250 and B.C. 100, which exemplify the “superstitious” “traditions,” “imaginations,” and “commandments of men” which Jesus and Paul warned against (Acts 17:22, Matt. 15:9, Rom. 1:21, Gal. 1:14).... Some point to the inclusion of Apocryphal Old Testament books in [some early] Bibles.... All pure Bibles viewed these books as non-canonical and said so in their preface.

One additional fact regarding the NKJV. The Library of Congress required Thomas Nelson Publishers to make no less than 60,000 changes to the KJV, before they could secure a copyright. So we can be sure that there has been no less than 60,000 changes. We have already seen in one of these changes that they have the unrighteous under punishment now. That’s not what we believe. No serious SDA should ever use a NKJV.
